PLIGHT OF THE UMMAH!

All praise and thanks is due to Allah Subhaanahu Ta’ala Who has blessed us with the Guidance on all aspects of our lives. Especially in the present Era, Muslims and the Ummah at large has become a target for ‘Global’ oppression. All the incidents, news reports and media news we hear, seems to be of the Ummah placed in difficulty and oppression by the Kuffaar. While Muslims have reached this stage that not even a single person or Muslim country can have any say to show their outrage at being the targets of such blatant Zulm (oppression). We have reached a state of total helplessness!

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has said: “The Muslim Ummah (nation) is like one body, if the head pains the entire body becomes restless (and feels the pain).”

How can we change our present state of wretchedness and insignificance, and raise Islam and the Muslim Ummah to its former glory?

Imam Ahmed Rahmatullah Alayh relates a Hadith in which Jubair bin Nufair (Radhiallahu Anhu), on the occasion of the Muslim conquest of Persia, saw the Sahabi Abu Darda (Radhiallahu Anhu) sitting by himself in tears. When Jubair Radhiallahu Anhu asked him how it was that he could cry on such a blessed day, the day in which Allah Ta’ala had bestowed honour and glory on Islam and the Muslimeen, he replied: “It is a shame, Jubair that you do not understand. When a people neglect the Commands of Allah Ta’ala, how wretched and insignificant they become! Look at these people! What majesty was theirs, until they neglected the commands of Allah. Now you see them humbled and abased.”

Is not this our present situation? Are we as an Ummah not so humbled and abased?

Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (Radhiallahu Anhu) says: “Ten of us were in the presence of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) when he turned to us and said: “I seek refuge for you in Allah from five things: When a people begin to commit shameless acts, they will fall victim to a plague so horrible that their elders will never have seen its equal in the amount of suffering that it will bring; When a people falsify weights and measures of their goods in their business dealings, they will be beset by famine, injustice, and oppression. No people ever withheld Zakaat but that the rains of mercy were denied to them; and were it not for the cattle, they would have received no rain at all. No people ever broke a treaty but that Allah, Most High empowered their enemies over them.” [Ibn Majah]

Maalik bin Dinaar (Rahmatullah Alayh) relates that he read a book of wisdom wherein Allah Ta’ala states: “I am Allah, the King of Kings. Their hearts are in My Hands. Therefore, he who obeys Me, I shall cause the kings of the earth to honour him; And he who disobeys Me, I shall arrange for that one to be punished at their hands. Waste not your time in cursing the kings (leaders) of the earth, but turn to Me in repentance; I will see that they treat you justly.” [Jazaa ul Aamaal]

A very great adverse effect when our actions are evil is that the wrong-doing people become despicable and worthless in the Sight of Allah Ta’ala, Most High; and when a people become insignificant in the eyes of the Creator it is not long before they lose esteem in the eyes of the creation.

“And whom Allah abases, there is none to bring honour to him.” [Haj : 18]

The effects of our actions when in disobedience and in disregard of Allah Ta’ala’s Commands and Deen causes corruption to spread out over the earth, polluting the air, the water and reducing the yield of crops. For Allah Ta’ala says:

“Corruption has appeared in the land and sea, for that is what men have wrought with his own hands.” [Ar Rum : 40]

Hazrat Ali Radhiallahu Anhu once said, “No one was ever afflicted but that it was due to his wrongdoing, and no affliction was ever lifted except through Taubah (repentance).”

Allah Ta’ala, Most High says:

“Whatever misfortune may befall you is for what your own hands have earned; and yet He pardons many things.” [Ash-Shaura : 30]

O Ummah of Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)! Turn to your Lord in repentance. Reform your actions and correct your evil. Your Rabb will elevate you in the eyes of the creation and place your awe in the hearts of the kuffaar (disbelievers).

“That is because Allah would never change His favour that He conferred on a people until they changed that which was within themselves. [Al Anfaal : 53]

O our Lord, Do not take us to task if we forget or make a mistake.

O our Lord, Do not place a burden upon us as You placed upon the people who were before us.

O our Lord, Do not place on us that which we cannot bear.

Overlook (our faults), Forgive us and have Mercy on us, verily You are our Guardian, so help us against the disbelieving nation.

Ameen Yaa Arhamar Raahimeen!
