Question: Does Saying ''Ṭalāq, Ṭalāq, Ṭalāq '' to one’s wife without the intention of Ṭalāq cause the Ṭalāq to be effective?

Answer: In the above mentioned circumstance where the husband pronounced Ṭalāq three times to his wife, all three Ṭalāqs will be effective and his wife is irrevocably separated from him.

Ṭalāq will be effective even if pronounced in jest without the intention of Ṭalāq whether in the presence of witnesses or not.

And Allāh alone knows best
