Question: What is the Kaffārah for sexual relations during Ramadan on various occasions?
If during one Ramaḍān a person had sexual relations with his wife on many occasions i.e. on different days and he/she hasn’t as yet given Kaffārah (compensation), then one Kaffārah would suffice for all the days.
And if this happened on two different Ramaḍān's then one Kaffārah would not suffice, rather a separate Kaffārah for each Ramaḍān would be necessary even though he/she hadn’t given the first Kaffārah as yet.
One Kaffārah is to fast for 2 months consecutively. (The duration during which a woman gets her period would be excluded; however as soon as her period is over she would have to continue immediately). Up to such a time that a person has the strength to fast, nothing else would suffice for Kaffārah. Yes if he/she doesn’t have the strength to fast, then he/she could feed 60 poor people or distribute the equivalent in cash.
