BELIEFS OF MUSLIMS REGARDING
THE SAHABA (RADHIALLAHU ANHUM)
(THEIR UNITED VIEW FOR OVER 14 HUNDRED YEARS)

The Sahaba Radhiallahu Anhum hold the place of the basis and foundation of explaining the Islamic texts and in making the Tafseer (commentary) of the teachings of Sayyidina wa Maulana Muhammad Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.

•    In accordance with the Qur’aan and the clear Sayings (Ahaadith) of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, the entire jama’at of Sahaba (Radhiallahu Anhum) are reliable, truthful and trustworthy.

•    Seven hundred Aayaat (verses) of the Qur’aan and over two thousand Ahaadith of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam relates to them and mentions them in praiseworthy terms.

•    To degrade or dishonour them is to be led astray and to be misguided.

•    To have enmity towards them is kufr (disbelief) and Ilhaad (to leave the fold of Islam).

•    To show dislike towards them is to be rebellious and transgress the bounds of the Qur’aan and Ahaadith.

•    All the Sahaba of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, approximately one hundred and forty-six thousand (146 000), are all the stars of guidance.

•    Any differences between them should be viewed as sincerity on their part to promote Deen.

•    Every objection raised against them and their honour, whether it be in lectures, writings or discussions is rejected.

•    This whole group were the first to explain Islam to us in detail and have the distinction of being directly addressed in the Qur’aan.

•    This blessed Jama’at fulfilled the right of being in the companionship of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam and were chosen by Allah Ta’ala Himself to be Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam’s companions.

•    Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam showed reliance on them in 27 battles (wars) and in 35 skirmishes.

•    To speak any evil of them exposes ignorance of Islamic knowledge, for seven hundred Aayaat of the Qur’aan al-Kareem and over two thousand Ahaadith of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam relates to them and mentions them in praiseworthy terms.

•    The Ijtihaad (analogical deduction) of the Sahaba is truth – To have love for the household and family of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam is a part of Imaan – To have love for the Sahaba (Radhiallahu Anhum) is a sign of Imaan.

•    Sayyidina Ali and Hazrat Mu’awiyya (Radhiallahu Anhumma) did not have any personal differences. The only reason they had differences was because of the murderers of Sayyidina Uthmaan (Radhiallahu Anhu). In this the majority of Ulama hold the view that Hazrat Ali Radhiallahu Anhu was on truth. Hazrat Mu’awiyya’s actions will also be regarded as being based on sincerity in fulfilling the right of bringing the murderers of Hazrat Uthmaan (Radhiallahu Anhu) to task.

•    According to Imaam Bukhaari (Rahmatullah Alayh), a mujtahid also receives one reward upon a fault.

•    The Sahaba were the means of conveying the Qur’aan and Ahaadith to us.

•    If the doors are opened for people to degrade, dishonour and criticize the Sahaba (Radhiallahu Anhum), the entire building of Islam will be broken – all reliance in the Qur’aan and Hadith will be removed.

It is thus necessary upon every single Muslim that he / she love and protect the honour of all the Sahaba, the Khulafaa Raashideen, the pure wives of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam and the Family (Ahl Bayt) of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, while showing enmity to those who show enmity to them.

Q & A from DARUL IFTAA

Question:
Is the recitation of ayat-e-kareemah i.e. لا اله الا انت سبحنك انى كنت من الظلمين proven from the hadith of our Noble Prophet (SAWS)? Is the recitation of this ayah effective in removing difficulties?

Answer: The recitation of this ayah, as well as the benefits derived from its recitation are proven from various authentic ahadith. Concerning the effectiveness of its recitation, the Holy Prophet (SAWS) is reported to have said, “If any Muslim recites this ayah for any specific purpose, then Allah will most definitely accept his supplication.”

This ayah can be recited individually as well as in a congregation. After reciting it, one should make duaa to Allah to remove all ones difficulties. Insha-Allah, this will prove very efficient in the removing of all problems and calamities.

This hadith can be found in the following books of hadith:
(1) Tirmidhi  (2) Baihaqi  (3) Nasai  (4) Al-Bazaar  (5) Haakim  (6) Ahmed

And Allah knows best
