Question: Does a woman have to pay zakaat on her jewelry, if her husband is not earning?
Answer: A woman will have to pay zakaat on her jewelry, whether her husband is earning or not.
The method of taking out zakaat is as follows:
If she possesses 85 grams of gold or 590 grams of silver or more, or if both together are equivalent in value to 590 grams of silver or more, then 2 ½ percent or the value thereof will have to be given in zakaat.
